Difference between Maple and Birch?
Material:

  • 9 mo+

  • Compact.

  • Safe. Non Toxic.

The Montessori Floor Bed Built for Their Independence

  • Rails for independence, not just safety
Side rails stop roll-offs while your toddler gets in and out on their own. The first bed that trusts them a little.
  • Twin size from 9 months through the school years
Standard twin fits your child from first floor bed through the kids years. Narrow enough to feel like their own, wide enough for a parent to squeeze in at bedtime.
  • Close to the floor, by design
The Montessori approach starts with a bed the child can access independently.
  • Breathable slatted base
Open slats let air move freely under the mattress. No moisture trapped underneath, no mold risk. A healthier setup than a mattress flat on the floor.
  • Crafted in Vancouver, Canada.
Rounded edges on every corner, made with non-toxic CARB 2-certified wood.

Safety

Recommended Age: 9 months and up.

What keeps a child safe in a floor bed is their ability to reliably control their head, neck, and body. They need to turn their head easily, push away from surfaces, and reposition themselves if they press against a rail.

Most babies develop these skills between 7 and 9 months. We recommend 9 months and up, only if your child has clearly reached these milestones.

Because the sleeping surface sits at ground level, any roll-off is minimal — a significant safety advantage over raised toddler beds and standard frames.

Safety Guidelines:

  • Wall distance: Place the bed less than 1.5 inches or at least 12 inches from the wall to prevent your baby from becoming trapped.
  • Room safety: Secure furniture to the wall, cover electrical outlets, and keep cords and hazardous items out of reach before your child sleeps independently.
  • Bedding: Follow your health care provider's guidelines for safe sleep. This may include removing pillows, duvets, or covers to reduce suffocation risk.
  • Supervision: Make sure the room is fully child-safe before leaving your child to sleep on their own.

Materials

Maple plywood, birch plywood and white melamine. We choose these woods for their good looks, sturdiness, and eco-friendliness. They meet the strict California Air Resources Board (CARB) standards, ensuring they are safe for indoor air and environmentally friendly. This choice reflects our commitment to environmental care and delivering top-quality, safe products.

Natural Maple Plywood- It's got a smooth, hand-varnished finish and edges we tint just a bit to give it that cool, minimalist Scandinavian vibe. Plus, it’s a bit lighter in color, giving it a fresh, modern look.

Natural Birch Plywood- This one comes pre-finished from our supplier for a nice, clear look. We hand-seal the edges to enhance the layers’ natural patterns, and it's got a slightly, just slightly richer hue than maple, which really warms up the place.

White Melamine- with plywood core for all the white parts that you see in the pictures, to bring a nice neutral balance to your space.

More about CARB 2 and TSCA Title VICARB 2 is a California regulation that sets strict limits on formaldehyde emissions from hardwood plywood, particleboard, and MDF. It mandates third-party certification and periodic testing to ensure products comply with these standards.

TSCA Title VI is a federal regulation under the Toxic Substances Control Act. It establishes national formaldehyde emission standards for composite wood products, aligning closely with CARB 2. This regulation requires third-party certification and proper labelling.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the recommended age range for the Apple Floor Bed?

Recommended Age: 9 months old and up.

Age matters because what really keeps a child safe in an open bed is their ability to reliably control their head, neck, and body. A child needs to be able to turn their head easily, push away from obstacles, and intentionally reposition themselves if they press against a rail or surface.

Many babies develop these skills between 7–9 months, which is why we recommend 9 months and up, provided your child has clearly achieved these milestones.

Parents should always assess their own child’s readiness rather than relying on age alone.

What is the size of the mattress I need for this bed?

Make sure you review the thickness of the mattress and not just the length and width dimensions.

For Twin

The shelf's weight limit is 40 lbs.
