Safety

  • For safety reasons place the bed less than 1.5 inches or at least 12 inches away from the wall. The purpose of this is to prevent your baby from becoming trapped between the bed and the wall.
  • Make sure the room is safe for the child to wander around. This includes covering outlets, removing cords, screw fragile furniture to the wall, etc.
  • Always follow your health care provider's requirements for safe sleeping. This may include removing pillows, duvets or covers to avoid suffocation. 
  • We recommend using bumpers or pads on the edges of the floor bed until your child becomes accustomed to sleeping in it or until they feel comfortable without them.
  • Never leave your child unattended.

Materials

Maple plywood, birch plywood and white melamine. We choose these woods for their good looks, sturdiness, and eco-friendliness. They meet the strict California Air Resources Board (CARB) standards, ensuring they are safe for indoor air and environmentally friendly. This choice reflects our commitment to environmental care and delivering top-quality, safe products.

Natural Maple Plywood - It's got a smooth, hand-varnished finish and edges we tint just a bit to give it that cool, minimalist Scandinavian vibe. Plus, it’s a bit lighter in color, giving it a fresh, modern look.

Natural Birch Plywood - This one comes pre-finished from our supplier for a nice, clear look. We hand-seal the edges to enhance the layers’ natural patterns, and it's got a slightly, just slightly richer hue than maple, which really warms up the place.

White Melamine - with plywood core for all the white parts that you see in the pictures, to bring a nice neutral balance to your space.

What's the recommended age range for the Apple Floor Bed?

This crib-sized bed is perfect for toddlers starting at 9 months old and can be used up to 5 years old, or as long as your child fits comfortably.  Some of our customers have even transitioned their babies from a bassinet to this bed as early as 3 months old.

Functional and aesthetically pleasing!

I’d been researching Montessori floor beds for months before finally making the switch for my 2-year-old, and I couldn’t be happier that we chose Sapiens Child. Supporting a Canadian family-owned business was important to me, and you can tell right away that the craftsmanship and quality are amazing. Everything is made here in Canada with such thoughtful design—the rounded edges give first-time moms peace of mind, and the rails make it both safe and practical.

Bye bye crib!

My baby hated her crib and I wanted to replace it with a Canadien made flood bed. I chose the twin size bed to also be able to lie down with my baby. The quality is very good! I’m happy with the bed (and mattress) and to be able to enjoy all the cuddles with my little one is the best perk :)

The perfect size

This bed is exactly what we needed! The size is perfect, uncommon, but it’s honestly perfect for our small apartment in Vancouver. Our daughter is 1 and still sleeps in our room, and we really wanted a floor bed for her, but a twin was just way too big. This one fits perfectly, and the quality is amazing.

We’re so happy we found this local shop! We visited the store, and it was totally worth it. You can tell right away how well everything is made. Our daughter loved it too, as soon as we walked in, she felt comfortable. It really felt like the space was made for her.

Beautiful bed!

We received our floor bed this evening. It is a beautiful, very sturdy product. I had a question when it arrived and I received a personal response to my email within 20 minutes! It was a breeze to set up - I did it alone and it only took about 20 minutes. It also shipped very quickly. This whole experience has been easy and surprisingly delightful. Highly recommend.

Lovely design and quality

The bed looks great and fits perfectly in our montessori nursery. Materials are great quality and it was easy to assemble. Great option instead of a crib. Bub really likes that I can sit in with her and read a book before bedtime.
