Safety

Just a friendly reminder to keep an eye on your little one while they're using the Tower. We want to make sure they stay safe and avoid any accidents. Please discourage any roughhousing like rocking the Tower, climbing on the sides, or trying to climb up through the top onto other surfaces (like a counter). Thanks for helping us keep your kiddo safe!

To ensure safe use of the Tower, we recommend that it be used by individuals weighing no more than 100 lbs.

If your child's pit of stomach rises above the highest part of the Tower, we recommend lowering the standing platform.

Materials

We select our materials with safety as our first priority, followed by strength and natural beauty. All our plywood meets CARB Phase 2 and TSCA Title VI formaldehyde emission standards, reflecting our commitment to thoughtfully made furniture for your home.

3/4-inch PureBond® Maple Plywood

Our premium maple plywood is made using PureBond® formaldehyde-free adhesive technology. We are one of the few children’s furniture brands offering this type of wood. Its light tone and smooth, hand-varnished finish create a fresh, modern look. We lightly tint the edges for a clean, Scandinavian-inspired finish that complements the wood’s natural beauty.

3/4-inch Birch Plywood

Our birch plywood comes prefinished with a clear coating that highlights its natural grain. We carefully sand and hand-seal the edges to showcase the plywood’s distinctive layers. Its slightly warmer tone brings a welcoming feel to your space, while its low formaldehyde emissions meet CARB Phase 2 and TSCA Title VI standards.

White Melamine with a Plywood Core

The white components feature a durable melamine surface over a sturdy plywood core, with no particleboard. The clean white finish provides a neutral balance alongside the natural wood.

About CARB Phase 2 and TSCA Title VI

CARB Phase 2 is California’s standard limiting formaldehyde emissions from composite wood products, including hardwood plywood, particleboard, and MDF. TSCA Title VI establishes corresponding standards across the United States. These regulations include testing and certification requirements to help reduce formaldehyde emissions into indoor air.

When we say PureBond technology is “formaldehyde-free,” we’re describing our hardwood plywood panels, which are comprised of no added urea formaldehyde components and assembled with no-added urea-formaldehyde (UF) adhesives.

Frequently Asked Questions

What age range is the Kiwi Kitchen Tower suitable for?

Our Kiwi Kitchen Tower is ideal for toddlers who can safely climb and stand. We suggest that the earliest a baby can use it is around the time they turn 1 or by the time they can safely stand on their own. The upper age limit for using it is typically around 5 years, but it ultimately depends on the child's individual size.

As a general guideline, if your child's belly button rises above the top of the Tower's sides, we recommend lowering the standing platform.

What is the tower's weight limit?

Our standing Tower is specially designed to safely support babies and toddlers, with a maximum weight capacity of 100 pounds.

Is the assembly process hard?

We are proud to offer a product that is not only functional, but easy to assemble as well. According to countless reviews, our ease of assembly is one of our biggest strengths. The assembly process is straightforward and should take around 15 minutes to complete, making it a hassle-free experience for you.

What is the return policy?

We want you and your child to love our Tower as much as we do, which is why we offer a hassle-free return policy. If for any reason you or your little one aren't satisfied with our product, you can return it within 60 days of purchase for a full refund - no questions asked. So go ahead and give our Tower a try - we're confident that you'll love it!

For more info on the refund policy please see https://sapienschild.com/policies/refund-policy

Is it easy to clean?

We know that as parents, cleaning can be a hassle. With just a spray of water and soap or a non-toxic multi-purpose cleaner, you can wipe the melanin (white steps)  down with a clean cloth. For the wooden material, we suggest wiping down with a damp cloth right after use. This helps to remove any stains easily.

What Parents are Saying

Who We Are

Hi! We're Ale and Jorge. Sapiens Child started in our small apartment in Vancouver during COVID, when we couldn't find children's furniture designed with true independence and purpose for our own baby.

Combining my expertise as a Certified Montessori Guide with Jorge's craftsmanship, we built a simple table and chair set.

One thing led to another. Today, thousands of parents have trusted us to bring autonomy into their homes. We were even featured on Dragons' Den!

We're still pinching ourselves and couldn't be more grateful to our incredible community.
